Rachel Oxley

Rachel Oxley is an artist who works across the disciplines of performance, visual art and choreography.  The work seeks to expose the inherent qualities and scope for possibilities held within relationships - whether between bodies, states or objects.

Rachel currently lives in Aarhus, Denmark with her partner and two children. Prior to this Rachel was Associate Lecturer at Falmouth University, teaching Art theory and contextual studies to Dance and Choreography students at the Academy for Music and Theatre Arts. Rachel was awarded the Digital Performance research studentship at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL); researching group movement, specifically how humans construct and share knowledge through the movement of bodies in a group.

In 2010-2011 Rachel was awarded the Leverhulme Trust Artist-in-Residence Scholarship and was affiliated to the Interaction, Media and Communications research group, EECS, QMUL. During this time Rachel also taught on the Media Arts and Technology PhD programme at QMUL.

As a freelance artist Rachel has shown work and been supported by a number of institutions and funding bodies including the Arts Humanities Research Council,  Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, Arts Council England Visual Arts, Arts Council England Performing Arts, The Courtauld Institute, Artsadmin, Chisenhale Dance Space, Chisenhale Art Studios, Wysing Arts, The Junction Cambridge, Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art Poland and Athens School of Fine Art.
